quick ramblings: an oxymoron by ben

when the pitter patter of little feet thundered across the upstairs floor at 6:30 this morning, sarah got up and let me stay in bed. just another reason i love her!
.
the girls and i went to watch mommy play soccer this morning. well, i watched... they typically walk back on the bleachers or flirt with little boys. guess it's never too early for me start figuring out how to use that shotgun...
.
then will and i played some disc golf at roscoe ewing park in medina while sarah and the girls played with krista, lilia, robby, and piper. i don't get to hang with will often, so it was nice to be able to play some disc golf and chat it up with a really cool guy. and since i only keep score to beat matthew, i figured i'd let him know if he's reading this that i scored a +2 and a +3 (we played two rounds).
.
the big issue with being a parent today was figuring out how to work the fine line between exasperating your children and teaching them a valuable lesson. how do you know when to just let kids be kids and when to draw then line? i don't think i'm overly harsh with them, but i'm not them. they could take it a whole different way than it's meant.
.
.
favorite bible verse read today: "better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere." (psalms 84:10a) - try to remember this when your on vacation...
.
another picture (this was taken on our way out of new orleans after some katrina relief work in january 2006; i believe sarah took this shot):
